strong brand messages
communications | branding | marketing

My projects are incredibly varied. But my focus is always simple. To create a strong brand message and then deliver it in a way that captures hearts and minds. Whether that be a video campaign, a rebrand or a new brand, a website, a marketing campaign, a strategic plan that encapsulates a strong and clear message, etc. No wonder I love my work.

I know I know, I desperately need a new website for MY business. It's top of my list for 2017. Meanwhile I hope you'll see past my very outdated look for a few more months and be able to see the quality of my work in the outcomes I've achieved for clients in the past year or so...

Over the past 12 months+ I've chaired a very small but dynamic working group (a Committee for Ballarat
sub-committee) responsible for developing the concept behind this promotional campaign about Ballarat and our region. Once we'd developed a narrative and a brief we engaged sensational local agency Mass Motion to create and produce the video. The overwhelming amount of positive feedback so far suggests that we've achieved a great outcome! Watch it and judge for yourself.

This is maybe my favourite project ever. Ballarat Grammar's new website shows best the range of my work, from concept development to brand messages to project management. I love challenges like this where all of the elements come together to have an overall impact. It's also a great example of how I work in partnership with expert colleagues to pull together a whole project. The success of this project was definitely due to a strong relationship with the client based on trust and a fantastic working relationship with GDJ agency in Melbourne.

Silver Award at the Australasian Reporting Awards for City of Ballarat's Annual Report 2014. I've been doing work for City of Ballarat for almost 10 years and know them pretty well. This was my first annual report with them and actually my first ever big annual report. I'm really proud of this one... and of course we're going for gold this year.

I love working for Committee for Ballarat as their part-time Communications Consultant. I believe strongly in what they stand for and what they do and I really love the variety and challenge of the projects here that include everything from brand messages to opinion pieces to strategic documents. For me the success of my work with C4B is all about our long-term relationship and the understanding and trust that comes with that.

The Hamilton and Alexandra College was my first client when I started 10 years ago and they are still secretly my favourite.
My work with them covers everything from really creative marketing campaigns to developing content for their prospectus to making curriculum guides readable.
My work with THAC exemplifies the benefits of long-term relationships and trust like no other and is also another great example of bringing in trusted experts who really 'get us'.

As the editor of three significant Groundwater Atlases for Southern Rural Water, I now know most of what there is to know about groundwater... who would've guessed!

A very small project in the big picture of life, but I loved it... I  co-authored a chapter in Pedagogies for the Future by Robyn Brandenburg and Jacqueline Z. Wilson (Eds.). The chapter is called 'An Aboriginal Pathway to Learning: My Story - A Conversation with Bonnie Fagan'. This project involved me telling Bonnie's story, as expressed by her through her painting, in the most authentic way possible. Memorable.

This is very important to me and I currently volunteer my skills and time in a number of areas.

  • As a member of Committee for Ballarat I'm committed to actively contributing to their work. I've been a member of their Membership and Communications Committee for seven years and a member of the Brand Ballarat Project Team since it was established in 2013.
  • I was the event photographer at the most recent Lighthouse Literary Festival in Aireys Inlet - this fantastic biennial festival attracts big names and is on again in April next year at the Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club on the beautiful Great Ocean Road.
  • As a member of the Ballarat Swimming Club Committee I 'do' their communications/ facebook/ media/ photography and I currently do the same as a member of the organising committee in the lead up to Ballarat hosting the Vic Country Swimming Championships in 2015.
